SUBSIDIARY DEPARTMENTS OF THE CHAMBER

      There are three subsidiary departments in the Chamber.  They are the Reading Room, the Seong Fan Evening Middle School (Escola Seong Fan) and the Qingzhou Primary School (Escola Ilha Verde).

Seong Fan Evening Middle School (Escola Seong Fan) -- The The former Commercial Training Class is called the Seong Fan Evening Middle School.? It was founded by the Chamber in 1947. Teenagers at learning age who are away from school are provided with secondary education.? Working youths, on the other hand, are also provided with the opportunity to indemnify their secondary education.? Within the academic years 2010 to 2011, there are nearly 500 students in the whole school and a total of 14 teaching classes, of which 8 are senior secondary, 4 are junior secondary, one is Civil Servants' Chinese Class and one is short-term photography course respectively.

  With the social development, the ratio of students to universities continues to rise year by year. Now the Seong Fan Evening Middle School provides a path that leads those working youths to tertiary education.
In August 1997, the Seong Fan Evening Middle School was sanctioned by the Government to join the free secondary education scheme that not only reduces the tremendous burden borne by the students and their parents, but also further upgrades the teaching quality and improves the teaching environment.

  In September 2000, Macao SAR Government granted a 5-storey building to the subsidiary school of the Chamber. The Chamber decided to appropriate funds for the new laboratories. In September 2002, the Seong Fan Evening Middle School moved into the new school building. We believe that with the facilities provided by the new school building, increment on learning interest and upgrade of teaching quality will be apparent.

  In 2006, Seong Fan Evening Middle School was positioned as Recurrent Education by Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, accepts only those aged 16 or above to enroll.

The Qingzhou Primary School (Escola Ilha Verde)  -- The Qingzhou Primary School, originally called the Qingzhou Common People Learning School was founded in 1951.? In August 1995, the Qingzhou Primary School was sanctioned by the Government to join in the free education scheme. In view of the inadequacy of academic places in Qingzhou Primary School, the Chamber has decided to reconstruct the Qingzhou Primary School. In July 2001, the Chamber signed the building contract with Rising Construction Ltd. In November 2001, the reconstruction of the Qingzhou Primary School started.? In August 2002 a 5-storey Qingzhou Primary School Building was built up.? With the facilities provided by the new school building, significant improvement in teaching environment, increment on learning interest as well as extension of students' computerized knowledge are deemed probable.

  Within the academic years 2110 to 2011, there are nearly 500 students in the whole school and a total of 20 teaching classes, of which 6 are kindergarten and 14 are primary classes.

  All of these represent the new responsibility of the Chamber devoted to the society in the new era.

The Reading Room --The subsidiary of the Chamber was founded in 1948.  At present, the collection of reading materials includes over 22,000 books and 70 types of subscribed magazines, Chinese and English newspapers.  Every year, the number of people who have their readings in the reading room amount to 60,000 and the lending rate of books and magazines reach up to 7,000 times.  Within the nearly 60 years of opening, not only does it provide the Chamber's members a place for reading and searching for data but actually it has become a public reading room open to people at large.
